This tripartite surrealist figure is based on the earlier Triple Personality (1959). The three females are now replaced by male figures, fused into one mechanical unit. The faces have turned into voids. The machine handle-like arms and stylized hands are part of the three cavities of the torso. This sculpture, shaped somewhat like a missile, is part of the underlying dissonance in the work of Herman Wald, reflecting menace and threat, the endless Vietnam war was raging at the time and spread its menacing shadow over the world.
