Meditation depicts a pensive and crouching female whose face is buried in her hands. It is made of plaster, a cheaper material which could be painted or finished so that the work superficially appears like an aged bronzed piece. The broad-hipped female nude with a formalised block-like treatment and curvilinear form showed the influence of modern British sculptor Frank Dobson (1888-1963). Dobson was interested in curved shapes and non-Western art which he saw in the British Museum in London.
