This Eastern European genre piece was created just after the Holocaust. The five figures in rough-hewn contours hold on to each other, standing up straight in a semi-circle. They seem frozen in time as they listen to the melody, their faces turned towards the heavens in deep concentration. Herman Wald worked on this group whenever he felt the urge to conjure up memories of his childhood and  youth in Hungary.
