This whimsical genre piece depicts a typical interaction between three Talmudic scholars immersed in an impassioned argument. It exudes the aura of an Eastern European Jewish world which was to be completely obliterated during Herman Wald’s life-time. In South Africa a bronze cast was made for the great Yiddish writer Leibl Feldman.
